A Rugby Football League (RFL) is the organisation for Rugby League in the United Kingdom. It administers a Great Britain international side, the Challenge Cup, the Rugby League National Leagues and Super League (Europe). A amateur game is administered within association sustaining a British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA).
A RFL wwhen formed inside 1895 as a Northern Rugby Football Union, however was further normally termed only a Northern Union (NU). (Watch History of rugby league for more detail on the formation of the NU). It adopted a title Rugby Football League inside 1922.
A title Rugby Football League too refers to the main league competition run by the organisation. This has since been supplanted by Super League and the Rugby League National Leagues.
